Of 90 jurisdictions in the country, Chicago ranks 90th when it comes to enforcing Federal Gun laws. 90th. Dead last. 

One need only to read the paper to recognize Chicago has become "murder city USA." But Rahm still insists the causes lie everywhere else but with him and his city, and Police Supt. McPuppet is too busy doing south-side song and dance along with New-Strategy Mondays and Comp-Tard.

Why doesn’t media cover Chicago’s poor enforcement of gun laws?

Wayne LaPierre, the National Rifle Association’s executive vice president and CEO, who appeared on NBC’s “Meet the Press” on Sunday morning, asked host David Gregory why the network doesn’t focus on the poor enforcement of federal gun laws in Chicago.

“I mean, let me give you the real sad thing, though. Let me hold up a mirror right now to the whole national news media and the White House,” the NRA official began. “I just got the track data from Syracuse University on enforcement of federal gun laws. Last time I was here, I brought it from 2011; it just came out from 2012.”

“Do you know where Chicago ranks in terms of enforcement of the federal gun laws? Out of 90 jurisdictions in the country, they ranked 90th,” Mr. LaPierre continued.

“Why doesn’t NBC News start with: ‘Shocking news on Chicago. Of all the jurisdictions in the country, Chicago’s dead last on enforcement of the federal gun laws?’” he asked. “Why doesn’t the national press corps, when they’re sitting down there with Jay Carney and the president and the vice president, why don’t they say, ‘Why is Chicago dead last in enforcement of the gun laws against gangs with guns, felons with guns, drug dealers with guns?’”

Mr. Gregory then asked Mr. Pierre the peculiar question about whether he supports those criminals being charged with felonies.

“Absolutely,” Mr. Pierre affirmed. “And we want them taken off the street. I mean, if you’re the president and the vice president, and the attorney general, and your job is to enforce these laws against the — I’m talking about drug dealers, gangs and felons that are walking around with guns in the street, and you don’t do it? You bear some responsibility. It is a tragedy.”

As the kids like to say, "EPIC FAIL."

Former astronaut Mark Kelly shits, steps in it.

A smart move on the part of the store owner. Kelly gets outed for buying an "assault rifle," then spins a story that he intended all along to give the weapon to Tuscon PD and show how easy it is to buy an "assault rifle." Had the store delivered the rifle to Kelly, now knowing he intended to give it directly to another party, they would have left themselves open to a happy visit from BATFE and Homeland Security. 

BATFE needs to have a little "sit-down" with Mr. Kelly and discuss the answer Kelly provided on the BATFE Form 4473, Question 11a, which Kelly signed as being "true and correct," but on which he obviously lied. Making false statements on a BATFE 4473 is punishable as a felony offense under federal law. A straw purchase is a straw purchase, regardless of who you plan on giving the firearm to. 

Gun store rescinds Mark Kelly's rifle purchase, questions his 'intent'

A Tucson gun store owner has decided to rescind the sale of a military-style rifle to Mark Kelly, the husband of former U.S. Rep. Gabrielle Giffords, after Kelly said he had intended the purchase to make a political point about how easy it is to obtain the kind of firearms he's lobbying Congress to ban.

Kelly's March 5 purchase of an AR-15-style rifle and a 45.-caliber handgun at Diamondback Police Supply sparked a frenzy of reaction from both sides of the debate after he posted to Facebook a photo of himself shopping.

A background check took only a matter of minutes to complete, Kelly said in the Facebook post, adding that it's scary to think people can buy similar guns without background checks at gun shows or on the Internet.

But Kelly couldn't immediately take possession of the rifle because the shop had bought it from a customer. As a result, the store is required by a Tucson ordinance to hold the gun for 20 days to give the city enough time to make sure the weapon wasn't used in a crime.

Store owner Doug MacKinlay said Monday in a Facebook post of his ow that he "determined that was in my company's best interest to terminate this transaction prior to his returning to my store."

"While I support and respect Mark Kelly's 2nd Amendment rights to purchase, possess, and use firearms in a safe and responsible manner, his recent statements to the media made it clear that his intent in purchasing the Sig Sauer M400 5.56mm rifle from us was for reasons other then for his personal use," MacKinlay said in the statement.

He added that the store will return Kelly's money, donate the rifle to the Arizona Tactical Officers Association to be raffled as a fundraiser and make an additional contribution of $1,295 -- the value of the rifle -- to the Eddie Eagle GunSafe Program.

Kelly's purchase of the guns sparked accusations of hypocrisy from gun-rights supporters, with many on Facebook focusing on his motivations and the rules for purchasing such guns. Kelly, a former astronaut, said he intended to eventually hand in the rifle to Tucson police but planned to keep the handgun.

Kelly and Giffords started a gun control advocacy group, Americans for Responsible Solutions, amid the wave of recent mass shootings. They have been touring the country in recent months in support of expanded background checks for gun purchases.

Kelly bought the guns at a Tucson shop the day before he appeared with his wife at the supermarket where she was wounded during a shooting rampage that left six dead and 12 others injured two years ago. Giffords resigned from Congress last year as she continues to recover from her injuries.

Gun industry sales soar: East Dundee officials predict G.A.T. Guns will be the second largest generator of sales tax dollars in the village only behind Walmart.

For you folks not familiar with the Chicago area retail firearms landscape, GAT Guns has been in business selling guns, ammo and fishing tackle, along with operating an indoor shooting range since the '80s. Located in Dundee IL, just a stone's throw from the border of Cook County, GAT just recently finished a major renovation and expansion which includes additional indoor range space, more than doubling the number of shooting lanes. 

It's no coincidence they chose to locate just across the county border line. Cook County liberals, look hard at the tax revenues you have forsaken:

G.A.T. Guns now a part of East Dundee

The village of East Dundee has annexed several properties on Route 25, including G.A.T. Guns, which officials predict will be the second-largest generator of tax revenue in town behind Walmart.

East Dundee officials sweetened the deal by agreeing to finance G.A.T. Guns' $5.5 million expansion.

The expansion would add 24 indoor shooting-range lanes for high-caliber rifles and 10 indoor lanes for handguns, where there are now 24.

The money, which would come from a tax increment finance district — where property taxes that go to local governments are frozen at a certain point and taxes above that point go back into development — also would improve the building and its parking lot. As part of the agreement, the business has to stay in town for 12 years.

G.A.T. Guns sells firearms and gun accessories and offers shooting ranges for practice. Its clientele is a mix of civilians and law-enforcement officers.

G.A.T. stands for "guns, ammo, training." The company has been around since 1979 but in its current location since 1988. The business has more than 6,000 firearms on hand at any given time and has been honored for recruiting members for the National Rifle Association, said Greg Tropino Jr., who runs it with his father.

"We already are one of the largest private facilities in the country and this (expansion) allows us to be at least the largest gun range in the country that's privately held and allows us to be much bigger and better," Tropino said.
The expansion should start within the next two weeks and end this winter, Tropino said.

Without the expansion, the business was expected to generate $365,000 in combined sales and amusement tax revenues in the first year, interim Village Administrator Bob Skurla said.

"That would be the size of a small- to medium-size car dealer," Skurla said, adding that the number should grow as the business expands. "I think you can see, going down the road, that the sales tax and the amusement tax to the village could conceivably get to $1 million."

East Dundee officials have agreed not to interfere with G.A.T. Guns' daily operations.

The vote took place Saturday, so the village could start collecting sales taxes and the 5 percent amusement tax on the first of the month, Skurla said.

But East Dundee Trustee Allen Skillicorn said the meeting should have been held Monday to give the public a chance to attend and give input.

"It would be nice if it was a little transparent," Skillicorn said. "The legal requirements were there, but it was a little fast-paced."

Other properties annexed into East Dundee on Saturday were Pampered Pets, MAS Accounting, The Max McGraw Wildlife Foundation and a pair of private residential properties. As a result, East Dundee's limits have been extended another half mile south on Route 25.

The village is still in talks to annex the Milk Pail and Sierra Studio.

I've spent may hours in the range at GAT back when there were few places to shoot in the Chicago area. I will always stop in when I'm in the area. There was a time when astronauts were worthy of respect.

Gabby Gifford's husband, former astronaut Mark Kelly, recently purchased an AR-15 rifle and "high-capacity" magazines. Upon learning the media was aware of the purchase, Kelly announced he was turning the rifle over to the Tuscon Police. He made no mention of the high-capacity mags or the .45 pistol he also bought at the same time.

This is what Kelly posted on his Facebook page when the news leaked:

Looks like the judiciary committee will vote on background checks next week. I just had a background check a few days ago when I went to my local gun store to buy a 45. As I was leaving, I noticed a used AR-15. Bought that too. Even to buy an assault weapon, the background check only takes a matter of minutes. I don't have possession yet but I'll be turning it over to the Tucson PD when I do. Scary to think of people buying guns like these without a background check at a gun show or the Internet. We really need to close the gun show and private seller loop hole.

Beretta USA tells Maryland legislature: Pass your proposed "Assault Weapons Ban"and you can kiss our ass (and 400 jobs) goodbye.

Maryland based firearms manufacturer Beretta USA has told the Maryland legislature in no uncertain terms that they will leave the state and take their operation, and its 400 jobs, to another state that welcomes successful, tax-paying industries that employ hundreds of citizens with good jobs, honest wages and benefits.

Maryland’s legislature is weighing a gun control package that would impose aggressive restrictions on Maryland gun owners, and gun maker Beretta U.S.A. is warning the bill would drive more than guns from the state, Red Alert Politics reports.

Beretta, located in Accokeek, employs around 400 people at any time, a representative said during testimony before the Maryland legislature this month, and won’t hesitate to take those jobs elsewhere if the state passes a ban on the rifles it makes. The Washington Post reports that Maryland would lose about 300 jobs if Beretta leaves.

Jeff Reh, general counsel for Beretta, said in his Feb. 7 testimony that the company has always showed commitment to its community. Beretta’s Accokeek-based group of companies have paid $31 million in Maryland taxes, and invested or plans to invest $73 million in Maryland, he said. But Reh warned a ban on Beretta’s products could drive it to a friendlier climate.

That commitment is not one-sided, though, and deserves the respect of a corresponding commitment from the local community and from the state Government,” he said. “Instead, we are confronted with a state government that wants to ban our products at a time, by the way, when numerous other state governments are courting our investment. It is worth noting that these other states also do not try to blame a product for human misconduct.”

If it passes, Maryland’s gun control bill could make illegal not only for Beretta to sell its products in Maryland, but also to export them to other states, Reh said 

He warned lawmakers not to take the gunmaker’s warnings lightly, reminding them that when Maryland tightened gun restrictions in the 1990s, the company moved its warehouse operation to Virginia.

“I think they thought we were bluffing,” Reh said. “But Berettas don’t bluff.”
Not only would the bill be a business-killer, but it may even be unconstitutional, Reh added.

Magpul Industries tells the Colorado legislature: Pass your proposed AWB and you can all go choke on a bucket of cock.

Magpul Industries, manufacturer of what is probably the most popular and highly regarded high-capacity magazine for AR-15 type rifles (plus a variety of other firearm parts and accessories), and responsible for 600 jobs in the state of Colorado, has told the Colorado state legislature in no uncertain terms that they will leave the state if the legislature votes to pass an overly restrictive weapons ban. 

Magpul founder and president Richard Fitzpatrick has said he is dead serious about moving his company: "It's not really a threat. It's a promise."

God bless Magpul Industries for standing up to the bullies in the Colorado state legislature. If Colorado passes this ban I too hope they all choke on a bucket of cock.

Colorado Governor John Hickenlooper, who recently approved a measure to legalize pot smoking in Colorado, has said he will sign this weapon ban into law if passed.

• The truth is that the United States of America is a constitutional republic. This is similar to a democracy because our representatives are selected by democratic elections, but ultimately our representatives are required to work within the framework of our constitution. In other words, even if 90% of Americans want something that goes against our founding principles, they have no right to call for a violation of constitutional rights.

• Our founders did not want a “democracy” for they feared a true democracy was just as dangerous as a monarchy. The founders were highly educated people who were experienced in defending themselves against tyranny. They understood that the constitution could protect the people by limiting the power of anyone to work outside of it much better than a pure system of popularity. A system of checks and balances was set up to help limit corruption of government and also the potential for an “immoral majority” developing within the American People. We have forgotten in this country that we are ultimately ruled by a constitution.

• This country was built on the right to bear arms. It was built on the rights of an individual to bear arms, regardless of what his government or neighbor happened to think. This is crystal clear. Ironically the people who voice their opinions against this right have their free speech protected by your guns. Without guns in this country, all other amendments become null and void, simply because “We the People” will lose our power of enforcement.

• We need to keep this in mind as our “representatives” try to push gun bans. I don’t care if 99% of people are in support of gun bans (which is far from the case), it is a violation of our constitutional rights, plain and simple.

• A constitutional republic protects the rights of the individual even when their ideas are very much in the minority. If I were the only person in America who believed in the 2nd amendment, I would still be within my rights to call upon it. You would all think I was insane and possibly celebrate if I was gunned down, but in the end I would be the only true American among us.

• Our framers were very clear on this. If my government comes to take my guns, they are violating one of my constitutional rights that is covered by the 2nd amendment.

• It is not my right, at that point, but my responsibility to respond in the name of liberty.What I am telling you is something that many are trying to soft sell, and many others have tried to avoid putting into print, but I am going to say it. The time for speaking in code is over.

• If they come for our guns then it is our constitutional right to put them six feet under. You have the right to kill any representative of this government who tries to tread on your liberty. I am thinking about self-defense and not talking about inciting a revolution. Re-read Jefferson’s quote. He talks about a “last resort.” I am not trying to start a Revolt, I am talking about self-defense. If the day for Revolution comes, when no peaceful options exist, we may have to talk about that as well. None of us wants to think about that, but please understand that a majority can not take away your rights as an American citizen. Only you can choose to give up your rights.

• If they come for your guns it is your right to use those guns against them and to kill them. You are protected by our constitution.

"Tell me why you need an assault rifle"

The current mantra of the anti-gun liberals: "Tell me why you need an assault rifle."

Easy answer: Because it's a very well known and recently demonstrated fact that during times of crisis law enforcement will attack innocent civilians, unprovoked and with deadly force. In this case I have every right to return fire.

All it takes is for some unknown bureaucrat to accidentally label you as a "domestic terrorist" or a "threat to Homeland Security" and you'll have the entire law enforcement community working overtime to "bring you to justice," which these days means they'll burn you to death in your own home without due process. 

65.4 Million Guns Bought Since Obama Took Office

There have been 65,376,373 background checks completed for Americans purchasing firearms since February of 2009, the first full month of Barack Obama's presidency.

According to data compiled by the FBI, the number of Americans purchasing guns has skyrocketed since Obama was elected.

In 2009, there were 13,984,953 background checks for Americans buying firearms. If we subtract the 1,212,860 checks completed in the month of January, the total checks for the year under Obama were 12,772,090.

For 2010, background checks totaled 14,320,489. In 2011, checks were 16,336,732, and in 2012, 19,463,832. Background checks for the month of January 2013 were 2,483,230.
This totals 65,376,373 background checks completed since President Obama's first full month in office, or 44,748 background checks per day!

By comparison, the number of gun purchases in Obama's first term is 91.1% higher than President George W. Bush's first-term total of 34,214,066 background checks.

House Speaker Madigan on the 7th Circuit Court's Illinois CCW ruling: “In light of events in recent months in Illinois and in other parts of the country, it’s appropriate and necessary that we give a full vetting to proposed state legislation on this matter”

News for speaker Madigan: there's not much left to talk about. No more negotiations or bullying Illinois gun owners. The 7th Circuit Court of Appeals has spoken and you've got until June 10 to get legislation passed that meets the strict ruling of the Circuit Court judges:

In December, a federal appeals court struck down Illinois’ law that stops people from carrying a weapon.

And Todd Vandermyde, a lobbyist for the Illinois State Rifle Association, said that ruling closed the door on many of the “negotiations” that surrounded concealed carry legislation in the past.

"There are certain things that are not negotiable in the process," Vandermyde said last week at a public hearing. Concealed carry “will be a ‘shall issue’ permit, there will be no discretion by some bureaucrat as to whether you get to exercise your right,” he said.

“It will be a statewide permit, there will be no carve-out for Chicago. There will be no carve-out for Cook County,” Vandermyde said.

State Rep. Brandon Phelps, D-Harrisburg, who has authored several concealed-carry laws during his time in Springfield, said the federal court ruling goes even further.

"The clock is still ticking. June 10 is the deadline," Phelps said

Madigan is daddy to Illinois Attorney General Lisa Madigan. Lisa is thought by many to be the frontrunning challenger to current Illinois Governor Pat Quinn, possibly the most ineffective individual I've ever witnessed in Springfield. The Madigans are staunch anti-gun liberals, as AG in 2011, Lisa tried unsuccessfully to have the names and addresses of all Illinois FOID holders made public. They're no doubt supremely pissed off at the Circuit Court's ruling. Needless to say, I'm looking forward to Illinois becoming a "shall issue" state.

Chicago Mayor Rahm Emanuel forced by court to write checks to the NRA totaling more than 3/4 million dollars.

Oak Park's misguided attempt to ban handguns cost their taxpayers over $660K, also paid directly to the NRA. A number of recent Supreme Court and Federal Appeals Court decisions have made it clear that the Second Amendment means what it says. Supreme Court decisions on District of Columbia v. Heller and McDonald v.Chicago, and the 7th Circuit Court of Appeals decision on Illinois' ban on the right to carry. The highest courts in the land have ruled that American's have every right to arm themselves, in their homes and in public. Instead of spending taxpayers hard earned tax dollars attempting to disarm the honest citizen, maybe these politicians should be using the money to enforce the near 50,000 firearm laws that are already on the books. 

But as a long time member of the NRA, I do thank Mayor Emanuel and the citizens of Chicago for their generous contribution, plus a strong holla out to the residents of Oak Park too.
