Billions (literally) of bullets have been stockpiled. 7,000 Select-fire "Personal Defense Weapons" purchased. Predator drones capable of identifying whether a citizen is armed. 2,700+ 'Mine Resistant Armor Protected" assault vehicles. And a leader with an arrogant indifference for the United States Constitution managing an army of trained enforcers, all of this at her command. DHS chooses to ignore the Fourth Amendment under the guise of "national security".

Claiming a "national security" need, non-elected Department of Homeland Security bureaucrats have decided they can ignore the Fourth Amendment of the Constitution and seize the electronic devices of anyone "near" the borders of the United States, without warrant, suspicion or probable cause.

For those that haven't reviewed the Constitution lately, the Fourth Amendment clearly states:

"The right of the people to be secure in their persons, houses, papers, and effects, against unreasonable searches and seizures, shall not be violated, and no Warrants shall issue, but upon probable cause, supported by Oath or affirmation, and particularly describing the place to be searched, and the persons or things to be seized."

This decision by DHS is ripe for abuse:

• The Department of Homeland Security’s civil rights watchdog has concluded that travelers along the nation’s borders may have their electronics seized and the contents of those devices examined for any reason whatsoever — all in the name of national security.
• The DHS, which secures the nation’s border, in 2009 announced that it would conduct a “Civil Liberties Impact Assessment” of its suspicionless search-and-seizure policy pertaining to electronic devices “within 120 days.” More than three years later, the DHS office of Civil Rights and Civil Liberties published a two-page executive summary of its findings.
• “We also conclude that imposing a requirement that officers have reasonable suspicion in order to conduct a border search of an electronic device would be operationally harmful without concomitant civil rights/civil liberties benefits,” the executive summary said.

What next then? After it's established that anyone near the border is open to unwarranted search and seizure, expect Napolitano's "Homeland Suppression Army" to be able to search your home anywhere in the United States at will, and seize your assets and belongings as she deems necessary to the needs of "national security."  It would appear that President Obama is not only allowing, but actually encouraging, non-elected, appointed bureaucrats to simply ignore the highest law of the land, the United States Constitution, and do what ever they deem necessary to intimidate the citizens of the United States. 

PANIC BUY: "An approximation of how many rounds of ammunition the DHS has now secured over the last 10 months stands at around 1.625 billion"

yeah that's 1.625 BILLION. 

Infowars.com, who has been monitoring this guns/ammunition stockpiling by DHS, reports a solicitation for an additional 21.6 million rounds of ammunition was posted yesterday on the FedBid website:

This solicitation on top of the billion plus rounds already procured, plus the recent solicitation for 7,000 Select-Fire (aka full-auto) Personal Defense Weapons? What does Homeland need with 1.625 billion rounds of ammo? 7k fully automatic weapons?

And another issue to note: This solicitation specifies "Commercial LEAD Training Ammo". Remember that next time you hear some politician or departmental bureaucrat at EPA insisting lead based ammunition be outlawed. 

Or maybe DHS is just "panic buying" like the rest of us.

IF ‘ASSAULT WEAPONS’ ARE BAD…WHY DOES DHS WANT TO BUY 7,000 OF THEM FOR ‘PERSONAL DEFENSE’?

• The Department of Homeland Security is seeking to acquire 7,000 5.56x45mm NATO “personal defense weapons” (PDW) — also known as “assault weapons” when owned by civilians. The solicitation, originally posted on June 7, 2012, comes to light as the Obama administration is calling for a ban on semi-automatic rifles and high capacity magazines.

• DHS is asking for the 7,000 “select-fire” firearms because they are “suitable for personal defense use in close quarters.” The term select-fire means the weapon can be both semi-automatic and automatic. Civilians are prohibited from obtaining these kinds of weapons. The RFP describes the firearm as “Personal Defense Weapon (PDW) – 5.56x45mm NATO, select-fire firearm suitable for personal defense use in close quarters and/or when maximum concealment is required.”

• Additionally, DHS is asking for 30 round magazines that “have a capacity to hold thirty (30) 5.56x45mm NATO rounds.”

Some interesting language in that RFP:

• "Personal Defense Weapon"? Why is it when in the hands of a civilian they call it an "assault weapon"?

• “Suitable for personal defense use in close quarters.”?? That's contrary to the White House talking points that insist these types of weapons are "more dangerous to the user" and "a double barrel shotgun is a better choice" for personal defense. 

• "Select Fire" means fully automatic capability. A great big NO-NO for us civvies.

• Magazines that “have a capacity to hold thirty (30) 5.56x45mm NATO rounds.” Also another "dangerous" item in the hands of us civilians.

• "Caliber 5.56x45mm NATO"... that's one of those high-powered battlefield bullets, isn't it?

Is Obama using DHS to "end run" the Constitution and build a private army to suppress American civilians? I'm not one to promote conspiracy theories, but that's what this deal sounds like to me.
